Contemporary Catalan composers performed by the International Ensemble Modern Academy.
The International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) was founded in Frankfurt am Main four
years ago, in summer 2003. It represents the continuation of what the Ensemble Modern has
worked to achieve for over 25 years, garnering enormous, richly-deserved prestige through its
special formula based on the highest musical quality, rediscovering the joy of live performance,
engaging in interdisciplinary art projects and placing the emphasis on an international repertoire.
The IEMA follows in the Ensemble's footsteps, offering young but experienced artists a place to
learn, communicate, discuss, experiment and share their interest in 20th-century music.
The Alte
Oper hosts a very special evening in which members of the IEMA set their sights on some of the most outstanding figures in contemporary Catalan music, performing Benet Casablancas' Introduction, Cadenza and Aria; Robert Gerhard's Leo; Agust Charles' Unstable; Joan Guinjoan's Gic 1979; and Josep Sanz Quintana's Triphonie.
