The Catalan author Baltasar Porcel and the Turkish author Elif Shafak participated in this "torch passing event" between Catalonia and Turkey as the Cultural Guest of Honour for the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Baltasar Porcel reemphasised the Mediterranean identity of the Catalan culture in his speech before the symbolic torch passing event from one culture to another.

The event was personalised by the presence of the Catalan project's commissioner, Anna Soler-Pont and the Turkish project's commissioner, Ümit Gözüm.

Held at the Forum's auditorium, this formal event brought the Catalan activities at the Frankfurt Book Fair to a close.
